The main point of choosing a water pump is to determine the model and number of pumps. For pumping stations with different functions, the focus of consideration when selecting pumps is also different, which can generally be summarized as follows:
1. Take into account both size and flexibility. Whether it is domestic or production water, water consumption is constantly changing. Domestic water consumption varies with living habits and climate, such as higher than usual during holidays, and more water in summer than in winter. When selecting a pump, we should not only meet the requirements of flow rate and water pressure, but also take into account the change of water consumption. In order to save power costs, pumps with different performances should be reasonably selected according to the water consumption of the pipe network and the corresponding changes in water pressure, so as to achieve both size and flexibility in operation.
2. The models are neat and can be used as spares for each other. From the point of view of pumping station operation management and maintenance, if there are too many types of pumps, it will be inconvenient to manage. It is generally hoped that the water pumps of the same type can be selected to work in parallel, so that whether it is the matching and storage of motors and electrical equipment, the installation and production of pipeline fittings will bring great convenience. For the water intake pumping station with little change in the water level of the water source, the water delivery pumping station with a water tower (or high ground pool) with sufficient capacity to adjust the capacity in the pipe network, and the circulating water pumping station with relatively stable flow and head, all can be used in the selection of pumps. Focus on this point. When the water is supplied evenly throughout the day, the pump station can choose 2 to 3 vertical centrifugal pumps of the same model to run in parallel.
The above two points seem to be contradictory in form, but they can often be unified in the process of pump selection in actual engineering.
3. Use up the sections of each water pump reasonably. Split double suction pump is a kind of centrifugal pump commonly used in water supply engineering (such as SH type, SA type). Their economic working range (that is, segment) is generally between 0.85Qp~1.15Qp (Qp is the rated flow value on the pump nameplate). When selecting a pump, the section of each pump should be fully utilized. For water intake pumping stations with large changes in water source water level, pumps with steeper Q-H characteristic curves should be selected, and for water delivery pumping stations with large flow rate fluctuations, pumps with flat Q-H characteristic curves should be selected.
4. The structural form of the pump has an impact on the size, structural form and internal layout of the pump room. Therefore, it has a lot to do with the cost of the pumping station. When the water source level is very low and a deep pumping station must be built, the vertical pump can be used to reduce the area of the pumping station and reduce the cost.
5. The normal absorption conditions of the pump should be guaranteed. Under the premise of ensuring no steam turbidity, the allowable suction vacuum height of the water pump should be fully utilized to reduce the buried depth of the pump station and reduce the project cost. At the same time, it should be avoided that the installation heights of the pumps in the pumping station are too different, resulting in uneven buried depths of the pumps or an increase in the buried depth of the entire pumping station.
6. A water pump with a higher head should be selected. For example, a large pump should be selected as much as possible. Generally, a large pump is more efficient than a small pump.
